當關係副詞 when、where 和 why 引導定句時，關係副詞也可以用“which whom”代替。 在以“介詞、關係代詞”為指導的定句中，關係代詞只能用於 which or whom，而不能用於 that or who當先行詞指代事物時使用哪個，當先行詞指代乙個人時使用who。
1.介詞選擇的三個原則：一先、二動、三義。
第一：根據先行詞的搭配習慣確定。 i remember the day on which i settled in china.
i remember the days during which i lived here.
i remember the month in which i stayed there.
第二動作：根據從句中謂語動詞的搭配習慣確定。
this is the book on which i spent 5 dollars.
this is the book for which i paid 5 dollars.
this is the book from which i learnt a lot.
this is the book about which tom often talks.
3.含義：根據條款中表達的意思確定。
my computer,without which i can't surf the internet,crashed yesterday.

3.以“名詞、代詞、+關係代詞的數量”為主導的定句通常為非限制性定句，這種結構一般用作定句中的主語。
the building had been repaired, the roof of which was destroyed again in the big fire.

4.“介詞whose”在定句中用作定句，以修飾它後面的名詞。
